Working With Federal Retirement Advisors
We work exclusively with federal employees and their families. Federal retirement follows a different set of rules, so we've chosen to focus our practice on helping federal employees understand their benefits and make informed retirement decisions.
Federal retirement follows a different set of rules. Our knowledge and experience allow us to build every plan around those rules instead of trying to fit a private-sector approach to a federal career.
Yes. Retirement decisions affect the whole family, especially when it comes to survivor benefits, healthcare, and retirement income. We encourage spouses to be part of the conversation from the beginning, so everyone understands the plan.
Your Benefits and TSP
CSRS is the older federal retirement system, while FERS covers most employees hired since 1984. FERS combines a pension with Social Security and the Thrift Savings Plan, while CSRS relies more heavily on its pension. Knowing which system you're under is the starting point for building the right retirement plan.
See how we plan around your pensionYou can leave your money in the TSP, move it, or begin taking income from it. Each option has advantages and trade-offs. We help you compare them alongside your pension, Social Security, taxes, and income needs, so you choose the option that's right for you.
More on TSP decisionsOften, yes, if you meet the eligibility requirements before you retire. We'll confirm you're eligible to keep your FEHB coverage and help you decide how much FEGLI protection still makes sense once you're no longer working.
More on your benefits reviewIncome and Taxes
The age you claim affects your monthly benefit for life, so it's worth getting right. The best timing depends on your health, your pension, your other retirement income and savings, and your long-term goals. We compare your options so your Social Security decision fits your overall retirement plan.
More on Social Security and MedicareNot necessarily. Federal employees have options many retirees don't. Whether Medicare Part B makes sense depends on your healthcare needs, your budget, and how it works with your FEHB coverage. We'll help you compare the trade-offs before you decide.
More on Medicare with FEHBRetirement isn't just about how much income you have—it's about how much you keep. We help you coordinate your income sources with taxes in mind, so your retirement works more efficiently over time.
